WHY THERE IS NO WIRE

Most access control needs power and a wire at every door. This does not, which is why it reaches openings other systems cannot.

It replaces the cylinder, not the door

A CyberLock is an access control cylinder with no conventional keyway, so it cannot be picked. It is the exact size of the mechanical cylinder it replaces, installs with the same ease, and does not change how the lock hardware functions. No drilling, no conduit, no trench. Depending on the hardware, a swap can take as little as 30 seconds, and 10 to 15 minutes on the tougher ones.

The key carries the power

No wiring or battery is needed at the lock. The battery lives in the CyberKey and powers the cylinder on contact. That is why the same cylinder works on an office door, a padlock on a fence and a cabinet in a plant room.

The intelligence lives in the lock and the key

Each cylinder stores its own encrypted access codes, its serial number, its audit trail and a list of lost keys. Gen 2 cylinders hold up to 6,500 audit events and use AES-256 encryption between lock and key. A CyberKey holds up to 12,000 events. The cylinder stays offline, but the keys do not have to. CyberKey Air connects over wifi and Bluetooth keys connect through the phone app, so permissions and audit trails move in close to real time without anyone driving back to the office.

You do not have to pick. CyberAudit-Web manages CyberKeys and fobs opening CyberLocks and FlashLocks, and RFID access cards opening doors and vaults, and mobile credentials, from the same system. One set of people, one set of permissions, one set of reports.

Card swipes at doors and vaults, cylinder openings, denied attempts and no-open contacts all land in the same reporting, so an auditor gets one answer instead of two exports that have to be stitched together.

The same gap exists in a records room, a supply closet, a tool crib or a fenced yard. The reader proves someone came in. It cannot tell you what they touched once they were inside.

With the card reader alone

A CyberLock cylinder records every access granted, every denied attempt, and a no-open contact for guard rounds. It does not report a door as closed. Closed and open status needs a door sensor on a Flex System, a card reader door, or a FlashLock, and TEC installs all of those too.

Can I add access control to an existing building without rewiring it?

Yes, and this is the most common reason people call us. A CyberLock cylinder is the exact dimensions of the mechanical cylinder it replaces and installs with the same ease. No wiring or battery is needed at the lock. No conduit, no trenching, no core drilling and no electrician at the opening. Depending on the hardware, a swap can take as little as 30 seconds, and 10 to 15 minutes on the tougher ones.

What happens when someone loses a key or leaves the company?

The key goes on a lost key list that is carried inside the cylinders themselves. When that key touches a lock, the lock denies entry, the key alarms, and a denied event is written to the audit trail of both the lock and the key. The key can also be set to stop working in every other lock. No rekeying and no locksmith. If you are running CyberKey Air over wifi or a Bluetooth key through the phone app, that change reaches the key out in the field rather than waiting for someone to bring it back to a station.

Can keys be set to expire?

Yes. Unlike a mechanical key, a CyberKey can be set to expire regularly, even daily. An expired key has to be reauthorized at a communicator before it works again, which sharply limits what a key is worth if it walks off site.

Can I manage it remotely, or do I have to be on site?

Yes. The software is cloud based, so you reach it from a browser anywhere. Add a person, change a schedule, revoke access or pull a report without going to the building. Audit reports can also be emailed to you on a set schedule, so they arrive without anyone having to go looking for them. Temporary access can be granted to a chosen set of locks for a set period and then it simply ends.

Will it work on the locks and doors we already have?

Yes. There are over 450 cylinder designs covering the most common lock hardware in North America, including standard door cylinders, padlocks, cam locks, switch locks, gate hardware and cabinet locks. In most cases the hardware on your door stays exactly where it is and only the cylinder inside it changes.

Can the cylinder be picked?

No. A CyberLock has no conventional keyway to pick. Access is verified electronically between the lock and the key, using AES-256 encryption between lock and key on Gen 2 cylinders.

Can I actually prove who opened what?

Yes. Access granted, access denied and no-open contacts are all written to the audit trail with a date and time stamp, in the lock and in the key. A Gen 2 cylinder holds up to 6,500 events and a CyberKey holds up to 12,000. That is the report an auditor or an investigator asks for.

Can I prove a guard actually walked the route?

Yes. You assign a No-Open schedule to the checkpoints on that guard’s key. Their key will not open those locks. Instead of the access denied siren it beeps three times and records the contact with a date and time stamp, which proves the guard was at that location at that time. The same key still opens the locks they do need, like the employee entrance.

What about openings with no power at all?

They work the same as any other. The battery in the CyberKey supplies the power on contact, which is why this is used on outdoor gates, remote cabinets, unmanned sites and underground assets where running power was never realistic.

Do we have to replace our card readers?

No, keep them. They are fine on the doors they already cover. If you want everything under one roof we can also swap the brains out and run your existing readers off our hub, so card access and CyberLock access are administered and reported in the same place instead of as two separate systems.

How does the cost compare to a wired system?

It runs about a tenth the price. On a wired job most of the invoice is construction and electrical labor, not hardware. Removing the wiring removes that line entirely, which is why this reaches openings that were quoted once and then quietly dropped from the budget.

Can we start small?

Yes, and this is one of the real advantages. The system scales from the bottom up. Start with a couple of locks and a couple of keys, run it in your own environment, then add openings at whatever pace your team is ready for. There is no head end to size up front and no wiring to commit to, so expanding later costs roughly the same per opening as starting did.
